Bear State Bank helped sponsor Boots & Bling, a benefit for the Care to Learn chapter in Nixa, Missouri, that raised almost $28,000. The evening offered live music, games, an auction and more with 100% of the proceeds donated to Care to Learn.
“I would like to thank all of our sponsors, including Bear State Bank, for making the night possible,” said Care to Learn Director Annie Zimmerman. “With their help we were able to create an exciting and fun experience for our guests. The success of this event is a testament to the community we live in and the generosity of those who live and work here. I can’t say “thank you” enough!”
Care to Learn’s mission is to provide immediate funding to school-age children for health, hunger and hygiene needs. Concerned about poverty in his hometown of Springfield, local businessman Doug Pitt founded the organization in 2007. He was moved by stories of children so poor they had to share toothbrushes with siblings and teenage girls skipping school because they couldn’t afford personal hygiene products. Doug and those he talked with felt strongly that no child should suffer physically or emotionally due to lack of food, access to medical, dental or mental health care, or hygiene issues.
Today the group has 28 chapters across Missouri. To learn more, visit caretolearnfund.org.
